Climax and orgasms are one of the best parts in the crescendo of sex. The chase towards the climax and the orgasm itself create a rush of endorphins, among other happy hormones that create a positive reset. Even though women have more erogenous zones than men- over 14 by some accounts- even in this day and age, it is common that women don’t orgasm during sex. Shocking, isn’t it?

This is exactly what ends up creating the massive orgasm gap. In fact, according to Cosmopolitan, a study conducted by Durex in 2014 explained that women have 4 times fewer orgasms than men. They’re also more likely to have faked an orgasm (42%) than men (32%). Durex’s is just the latest in a long line of global and detailed research reports to suggest this. But have you ever wondered why this happens? Let’s have a detailed look at this.

6 Reasons Why Women Still Don’t Orgasm During Sex

1. Traditional Norms And Taboos:

Growing up in a society that looks upon sex as something only to procreate and not be enjoyed creates a huge chasm in our and our partners’ understanding of sexual needs and turns on cues. While as adults, we learn to differentiate between hedonism and pleasure, it is essential to address this at a personal level between you and your partner.

Approaching sex and masturbation as a form of enjoyable, pleasurable experience helps in breaking this psychological barrier and helps you embrace the act of making love as more than just making babies.

2.  The Pleasure Spot Misses:

Every person’s erogenous zones are different. It is a matter of which bundle of nerves is more responsive than others. It is always beneficial to explore, experiment, and find what works for your female partner. If you are a Friends fan, then Monica listed 7, and Rachel added toes if you remember!

The next time you masturbate or indulge in fun time with a partner, observe how your body responds. Also, depending on what works, don’t be shy about asking for more until you taste your release!

3. The Moon Cycle Sync:

Studies show that women respond differently to sex during various stages of their period. Some women have a noticeably higher libido during or after their period, while others have a higher sex drive during their ovulation. While it varies widely and is person-dependent, ovulation is generally marked by a heightened level of hormones, which essentially prepare the body.

If you have a period tracker, use that to find out which is the best window for your carnal instincts. If not, you can always use a traditional calendar to make little notes of the most intense release you experience throughout your specific moon cycle.

4.  The Right Mood Matters:

At times, traditional methods, unfortunately, really fail. That is when you must bring out the big guns. A simple wine and dine, either by yourself or with your partner, could really get you in the mood. At times, alcohol may even lower your threshold for climax, although it comes with its own challenges.

At times, turning to some soft kink may also help. Acts of foreplay, such as blindfolds, erotic food play, and even some light impact play, can give the endorphins a kick start. This can get you closer to the orgasm and even give it a new dimension of intensity.

5. The Most Essential Trio:

The sexual health of an individual is linked to the health of a person’s body and their mind. Often, stress, certain types of food, hormonal disorders, and the general health of a person contribute to various aspects of sexual health. Mental health has been shown to affect both physical and sexual health.

Any unaddressed existing or past experiences that have not been dealt with by the intervention of a professional create inhibitions, hence causing you to crash before you orgasm. Certain medications also contribute to low sex drive, especially psychiatric medications. So make sure you check in with both your physical and mental health care professionals if in doubt.

6.  The Sexual Misconception:

Good old penetrative sex, while tried and tested for ages, is a point of bias for women. For men, penetrative sex leads to a successful climax. Experts suggest that apart from primary zones such as the clitoris, the vaginal entrance, and nipples, 95% women have active extragenital erogenous zones that can bring them to climax.

The presence of multiple pleasure zones in a woman’s body also creates an added layer. Some women naturally don’t feel pleasure through penetrative sex, while others get turned off by it. However, penetrative sex is not the only gatekeeper to a woman’s pleasure. In such cases, getting creative is your best option. Mutual masturbation, porn-induced orgasm, sex toys, and a myriad of interesting experiments can help those who normally wouldn’t go through penetrative sex.

The woman’s body is a treasure trove of secrets. Whether you prefer the low intensity poses or the extremely playful additives, climax, while not always the goal, is helpful for a physicochemical reset of the system and to make you experience the state of post orgasmic euphoria.
